How to Delete Your Account and Data

Learn the difference between uninstalling the app and permanently deleting your iStoria account. Follow these steps to cancel your account, remove your profile, and completely erase your data.

Does uninstalling the app erase my data?

No. Simply removing or uninstalling the iStoria app from your phone does not delete your personal data, subscription, or learning progress. If you just delete the app, your information remains safe on our servers, and you can pick up exactly where you left off if you reinstall the app later.

Alternatives to Account Deletion

If you want to start over without deleting your account, iStoria offers options to reset your progress or change your learning level. These options allow you to retain your subscription while starting fresh:

  • Change Your Level:

    1. Navigate to your profile.

    2. Go to "Settings."

    3. Select "Change Level" and start the placement test.

    4. This will move you to a new level, and content from the old level will no longer be accessible.

  • Reset Your Learning Progress:

    1. Navigate to your profile.

    2. Go to "Settings."

    3. Select "Reset Learning Progress."

    4. This will delete your progress, allowing you to restart.

Key Considerations

  • Resetting progress or changing levels does not affect your subscription.

  • Always ensure you understand the implications of resetting progress before proceeding.

How to permanently delete your account and data

If you want to completely and permanently erase your account, your learning progress, and all personal data from our servers, you must delete your account from within the app.

To delete your account:

  1. Go to your Profile Page in the iStoria app.

  2. Access Settings (look for the gear icon).

  3. Select 'Personal Info.'

  4. Choose the 'Delete Account' option.

  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your deletion.

Important Notes Before Deletion:

  • Loss of Progress: Deleting your account will completely erase your learning journey. This includes your learned vocabulary, story history, earned badges, and learning streaks.

  • 45-Day Grace Period: If you change your mind, you can reactivate your account within 45 days of your deletion request. Once this 45-day period passes, the deletion becomes permanent and cannot be undone.

  • Active Subscriptions: If you currently have an active paid subscription plan, you cannot delete your account until your current subscription period expires. In some cases, such as after receiving a refund, your account may still be marked as having an active subscription, requiring deletion to be processed from the service side.
