Mastering Word Skills in iStoria 🧠

Learn how the Vocabulary feature works in iStoria. Discover how to practice words, master the 6 proficiency skills, and move words to your "I Know" list.

iStoria helps you build and retain your vocabulary through engaging, interactive exercises. To truly master a word and move it to your long-term memory, here is how the vocabulary system works:

1️⃣ Practice and Customize

Tap the Practice button to train your words using flashcards and multiple-choice questions.

  • Tip: You can customize your learning experience! Head to your settings to choose how many times a word needs to be repeated (1, 2, or 3 times) before it is considered practiced.

2️⃣ Master the 6 Key Skills

To fully learn a word, you must master it across multiple proficiency levels. The app will automatically guide you through these skills:

  1. Reading: Understanding the word in text.

  2. Listening: Recognizing the spoken word.

  3. Identifying: Connecting the word to an image.

  4. Pronunciation: Speaking the word correctly.

  5. Spelling: Writing the word accurately.

  6. Usage: Applying the word in the correct context.

As you complete each skill, a green dot will appear next to it so you can easily track your progress.

3️⃣ From "I Learn" to "I Know"

  • "I Learn" List: All new words start here.

  • "I Know" List: Once you successfully complete all the skills for a word, it automatically graduates to the "I Know" list!

  • Need a refresher? You can remove a word from the "I Know" list at any time, and it will jump back to the "I Learn" list for you to practice again.
