Learning English can be fun and effective! iStoria makes it simple by tailoring stories to your specific level. Follow this guide to get the most out of your daily learning journey.
1. Get Started & Set Goals
Begin your journey by setting up your profile:
Create an Account: Sign up to save your progress.
Placement Test: Take the test to ensure stories match your level.
Set Your Daily Goal: Decide how many chapters and exercises you want to complete each day.
💡 Tip: Start small (e.g., 1 chapter/day) to build a consistent habit.
2. Prepare: Review Vocabulary
When you open a new chapter, key words will appear one by one.
Sort the Words: Select "I Know" or "Learning" for each word.
Build Your Lists: Words marked as "Learning" are saved to your Vocabulary Page for later review.
3. Select Your Learning Mode
After reviewing the words, you will be asked: "What kind of learning do you prefer?" Choose the mode that suits your goal for the day:
Read Chapter: Best for independent reading at your own pace to improve comprehension (Self-Reading).
Read with Assistant: Best for practicing speaking and pronunciation with AI feedback.
Listen: Best for improving listening skills by hearing the full story narration.
4. Dive into Learning
Depending on your choice in the previous step, here is how to use the features:
If Reading (Read Chapter): Read the text yourself. Tap any word to see its meaning and hear its pronunciation.
If Speaking (Read with Assistant): Listen to the sentence, tap the Microphone, and repeat. The app will highlight mistakes in red for instant feedback. (Premium Feature).
5. Reinforce: Test & Chat
Make sure the information sticks immediately after the chapter:
Take Quizzes: Complete the comprehension quizzes after each chapter.
Chat with iStro (AI): Discuss the story with our AI companion to practice real conversation.
⚠️ Note: Don't skip the chat! You can't access it later for that specific chapter.
6. Master Your Words (Vocabulary Page) 🧠
Want to strengthen your memory? Go to the dedicated Vocabulary Page to review the words you saved earlier. You can practice them using different engaging exercises:
Multiple Choice: Test your memory by picking the right meaning.
Flashcards: Flip the cards to recall definitions quickly.
Challenge with iStro: Compete in a fun challenge to test your speed and accuracy.
7. Explore the Open Library 📚
Need a change of pace? Visit the Open Library section to discover something new:
Summaries of Popular Books: Explore summaries from a wide range of genres—perfect for expanding your knowledge without reading a full novel.
A Fun Break: Take a break from your main stories and try something fun and different.
Filter by Difficulty: You can easily filter these summaries by difficulty level to ensure they match your current skills.
8. Maintain the Habit
Keep Your Streak: Try not to break your daily chain.
Track Progress: Visit your Profile to see how many words and stories you’ve mastered.
💡 Pro Tips for Success
Routine: Fix a specific time for learning every day.
Focus: Focus on understanding the overall meaning of the story, not just individual words.
Accents: You can change the Assistant's accent (for individual words), but the Story Narration (in Listen mode) is fixed by Oxford.
